George Augustus Polgreen Bridgetower

|
George Augustus Polgreen Bridgetower (1780-1860) was an Afro-British violinist who was taken into the retinue of the Prince of Wales at age 10. In 1803 he met Ludwig van Beethoven on a tour. Beethoven quickly wrote a sonata for violin and piano for Bridgetower, and accompanied him on piano at the premiere. Before the work was published, an argument led Beethoven to rename it the "Kreutzer Sonata".
